Invitation to participate in consultation
On 3 December 2009, International Day of Disabled People, the Equality and Human RightsCommission announced its intention to conduct a formal Inquiry into the actions of public authorities to eliminate disability related harassment and its causes. This Inquiry will cover England, Scotland and Wales.
The Commission's Inquiry powers enable it to collect evidence, call witnesses and make recommendations against which we expect action to follow but before it can do so the Commission needs to set out exactly what the Inquiry will investigate. The Commission are therefore consulting Disabled People and other stakeholders on their draft terms of reference. You can give your views on these draft terms of reference by clicking on online consultation.
Scope Money Matters Survey
The Scope Money Matters Survey 2009/2010
At Scope, we know that money matters to disabled people and their families. We want to know more about the financial experiences of disabled people and families with disabled children. With this feedback, we will look to influence financial information, advice and services for the better.
We’d be very grateful if you’d take 10-15 minutes to complete the survey.
To fill in the survey go to:

The survey will close on 15th March.
trailblazers questionnaire
Jagdeep Kaur is an ambassador for Trailblazers as she mentions below. Dis Art hope we can all help her with this project. Please continue reading.
Just a quick message to let you know about Trailblazers - a network of over a hundred young people from across the UK who campaign against and raise awareness of the issues that affect young disabled people. We are part of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, the leading UK charity focusing on all muscle diseases.
We launched our campaign into accessibility in leisure facilities on Tuesday 20th October.
We are hoping to see ourselves splayed across the TV and radio stations of the UK and the idea is to get as many people as possible to survey their local leisure facilities and fill in questionnaires.
I wanted to ask could you please get involved with the investigation and encourage others to do so too.
There are three main ways people can get involved in this investigation.
1. Fill in our online questionnaire on your experiences of using leisure facilities and the problems you have encountered throughout your life. We’re talking about pubs, clubs, football stadiums, leisure centres, art galleries, cinemas etc…

2. Fill in a survey every time you use any form of leisure facility like those listed above and more. This should only take a minute to do and be filled in every time you go somewhere new. We want to know the good places as well as the bad.

3. Sign our petition to the Prime Minister on accessibility in Britain and Northern Ireland today.

I’ll be in touch soon with more information, but in the meantime please encourage as many people as you can to do as many of our surveys as they can, and also get your friends to sign the petition and fill out the questionnaire.
All the best and check out the website with all our updates over the next few days.

The good society
The NCVO - National Council for Voluntary Organisations has began a online debate in keeping with the national debate on society called the 'the good society'. It is asking people and organisations to help shape its manfesto for 2010. You can join in by clicking on this link Join the good society discussion online or send your ideas to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Again it would be good for disability orgs to respond as we always seem to get left out of the national and local picture by CVS's.
Health through Warmth Questionnaire
The purpose of the questionnaire is to gain data and understanding of the health and fuel poverty benefits of the clients using the health through warmth scheme. The results of the evaluation will help the council to inform future development of the service.
Again this is a consultation that affects possible many disabled people so it would be good to have a say.
A questionnaire will be completed with all new and existing clients to establish and monitor health, social and emotional changes following the programme.
